ABOUT THE CLUB
![]()
The Club was formed on 13 January 1994 after a group of breakers, Wagon Wheel, Ace Fighter, Red Cortina and Dalmatian, decided it was about time that there was a CB Club in the area. The previous club of the same name had closed down some years ago so, after seeking their permission to re-use the name, the West Wales Coastal Breakers was reborn. There was some concern as to whether the callsign would conflict with the existing World Wide Club so a letter was sent to them to confirm that they had no problems with us using the same initials. From its' inception, the Club has gone from strength to strength, holding monthly meetings and social events throughout the year.
Over the years, we have held various events, some just for fun, some to raise funds for local charities but always to bring back the sense of community that used to exist between CB'ers before it was legalised. We have done car treasure hunts, foxhunts, Raynet events with the local Amateur Radio Club, karaoke nights, pool and dart tournaments, bingo nights, quiz nights, fishing competitions, cold baked bean eating contests, blindfolded tasting contests and Club DX activations (usually on the wettest, windiest night of the year on a cold mountain top!).
The Club provides a meeting place for local breakers to get together where new breakers can put a face to the voices they talk to. We also provide a P.O. Box for members' use and access to lots of useful information via the Club Membership package, which all members receive when they join. The package consists of information sheets, 10 codes, 13 codes, local 20 codes, Q codes, an international prefix list, a frequency list, QSL cards (both original design and the current design), club address stickers, a membership card, a CB Licence form and a list of current members, together with a unit number.
Our members range from 10 - 85 years of age, both Amateurs and CB'ers alike.
